Besides marine electronics, what other services do you provide?

Basically, we will work on any electrical and/or electronic equipment on your boat, such as AC shore power, DC systems including wiring, pumps and lighting, as well as all types and brands of navigation and communication equipment.

Does Bay Marine Technology, LLC charge for estimates?

Bay Marine Technology, LLC offers free estimates.

How do you determine what is the right equipment?

Typically we meet the boat owner at their vessel to discuss their current and future boating needs.  At that time, we review existing equipment to determine what equipment may be obsolete and should be replaced.  We also look at the physical limitations regarding the installation location and discuss various placement options.  And finally, we provide competitive, cost-effective solutions with emphasis on safety and ease of operation.

What is your warranty policy?

BMT offers a one year warranty on parts and labor on every system that we sell and install. Also, as an authorized factory trained dealer, many systems that we install offer an extended manufacturers warranty on equipment.

What methods of payment does your company accept?

We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

What needs to be done to my electrical and electronic systems before the season starts?

Inspect all electronics equipment connectors; clean and apply anti-corrosion compounds

Navigation equipment: verify proper GPS reception and operation; update manufacturer software where applicable; clean LED screens, buttons, fascia, etc. with anti-static, ammonia-free cleaner; check navigation lights

Communications equipment: verify overall operation; test transmitter and antenna output performance; verify emergency DSC function is properly interfaced to GPS where applicable

Autopilot and radar equipment: verify/test "dockside" operation; check gain, rain and sea clutter operations; clean screens, buttons, fascia, etc. with anti-static, ammonia-free cleaner

Batteries: inspect and clean terminals; perform load test to determine battery capacity; charge as needed

Bonding system: check for stray current and galvanic corrosion

Shore power: check shore power cables and receptacles

Bilge pump(s): check operation of pumps, switches (auto and manual)
